SunSwept Sailing

Overall, Santa Barbara is considered a safe tourist destination, but it’s always wise to take precautions and be aware of new surroundings. Additionally, it’s important to be mindful of ocean conditions when swimming and enjoying other water activities. Always listen to lifeguards and local advice regardless of how confident you are in the water. The spectacular amphitheater was built in 1936 and seats over 4,500 people. Of course, the performances are showstopping, but the true magic happens before the show. Located approximately 300 feet above sea level, as the sun starts its descent behind the hills, the sky transforms into a breathtaking canvas of fiery hues.

Small Boat Rentals

Private charters aboard our Catalinas may have a maximum of 6 guests (not including captain) on board at all times. The Double Dolphin may have a maximum of 49 passengers (not including captain and crew) on board at all times. Santa Barbara may feel like a big, cosmopolitan city, but it has small-town roots, and many of the locals work on or are familiar with farms and wineries in the area. The city has an upscale air to it, but similar to the rest of California, you’ll find that the locals live a laidback lifestyle largely based around the outdoors. The local state university contributes to the economy, as does the tourism, finance, and health care sectors. There are numerous farms in the countryside around Santa Barbara, so the city is all about the farm-to-table experience.

Welcome aboard and set sail for a two hour sunset cruise aboard the Double Dolphin. While sailing along the coast with the backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains and Channel Islands at a distance, we often see California sea lions, dolphins, and a variety of coastal birds. Join us for a romantic conclusion to a full day of sightseeing or long day at work. If you only have two days, you can soak up the city’s Spanish heritage and enjoy the palm-lined waterfront and coastal cuisine.

Wildlife and Island Cruises

The scenic beauty of the dramatic mountains, lush valleys and oak trees is only surpassed by the rich flavors of the wines produced in the area. Two, three & four hour cruises departing daily sail along the American Riviera exploring the Santa Barbara and Montecito coastlines. Experience the pure joy of sailing on the classic yacht, Kelpie, with occasional views of wildlife like sea lions, dolphins and more.

Memorials at Sea

That designation would go to the Santa Barbara Electric Shuttle, a public transportation system that runs along Cabrillo Boulevard and up and down State Street that only costs 50 cents to ride. A bus system connects downtown Santa Barbara with the outer edges of the city and nearby coastal towns, such as Carpinteria and Goldeta. One of the most beautiful and fun beaches in Santa Barbara is East Beach. Located toward the eastern end of Cabrillo Boulevard, this palm tree-lined beach is made even more spectacular by the wide stretch of golden sand on one side and the mountains on the other side. This beach is also a prime place for sunset watching if your time in port allows for it.

Your party of up to six passengers will enjoy an exhilarating private sailboat charter along the Santa Barbara coastline with magnificent ocean and mountain views. You’ll have the time of your life aboard the classic yacht, Kelpie, with her exquisite wooden features and smooth sailing style. Sit back, relax and delight in occasional wildlife sightings such as harbor seals, sea lions, bottlenose dolphins and much more. Choose from one of their specially curated cruises or customize your own private sailing adventure.

Cruise ships that stop in Santa Barbara anchor offshore and tender passengers on a smaller boat to land. Passengers are dropped off at Sea Landing, a small pier within the Santa Barbara harbor. Sea Landing has a staffed information table where visitors can get maps and public transportation timetables as well as information about various activities to do in the city. The actual Santa Barbara Visitors Center is located at 1 Garden Street. To get to State Street and the beaches along Cabrillo Boulevard, a cheap shuttle is offered.

Hospitality tents are located along Cabrillo Boulevard, and across from Bath Street. Come and enjoy America’s Riviera while sailing alongside an entourage of sea lions, dolphins, whales, and birds. The official currency used in Santa Barbara and the rest of California is the U.S. If you need cash, you’ll find several ATMs throughout Santa Barbara, especially at local banks.

"Welcome to Paradise," is a fitting expression for those visiting the coastal city of Santa Barbara. Called the American Riviera, Santa Barbara is a place where food, art, history, fashion, wine and sunshine mix to create a delightful and unique experience for the visitor. The Old Mission is now a California Historical Landmark and is one of the most popular attractions in the area.Just outside of Santa Barbara, lies the Santa Ynez Valley which is home to numerous world-renowned wineries.

See our cruise calendar for daily departure times for our Santa Barbara Sunset Cruises. Walk to the Harbor or Stearns Wharf for restaurants, museums, and souvenir shops. Or wander along the Urban Wine Trail — a unique series of 20+ wine tasting rooms just steps from each other. Take the MTD Downtown Waterfront Shuttle along the coastal Cabrillo Boulevard and then up Santa Barbara’s notable State Street.

You'll find it at both the historic sites like the Mission Santa Barbara and the fine county courthouse downtown, as well as in the gorgeous homes that line the avenues paralleling State Street, the main artery through town. Sometimes called the "American Riviera," especially by the real estate industry, Santa Barbara is a well-tended community that practically defines the mellow, sun-drenched California Coast aesthetic. With the Santa Ynez mountains providing a stunning backdrop, State Street offers all the shopping you could ever hope for during your vacation. From linen clothing to Mexican chocolate, you can find anything along the bustling street.

Riding a bike is also a fun way to get to some of the city’s main sites, such as the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. Head to Stearns Wharf, located next to the beach at the bottom of State Street, for a scenic stroll along its magnificent pier that overlooks the harbor and beaches. When the pier was built in 1872, it had the acclaim of being the longest deep-water pier between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Even during warmer months, the temperature in Santa Barbara drops significantly at night, so layers are always recommended. There are many options when it comes to activities, including beach outings, wine tastings, and outdoor expiration so pack a variety of clothing options. Everyday essentials for Santa Barbara include sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and a water bottle to stay hydrated.
